On My Knees began as I thought about what mattered in my caregiving journey. What mattered, at that moment, was taking care of my husband.
In 2023, there were nights when the weight of that responsibility felt overwhelming. Days when the dream of what life used to be shattered against the reality of what it had become. Days when the road ahead felt like one only I could walk.
Out of that space came these lyrics:

There’s a road I have traveled
That no one else would dare
No one else wants my worn out
Shoes or graying hair
Or my knees, or my knees
No one else wants to fall, on my knees
The road I walked was one no one else could walk for me. When I needed clarity, I found myself on my knees, reaching out to God with the weight of the day. Falling there became the place where surrender and strength met. Another place to get back up.
If you’ve ever reached for help beyond yourself, this song is for you
